BOERNE, TEXAS

Boerne, Texas is a city in the Texas Hill Country near San Antonio and was named after the German author Ludwig Borne. It was founded with the ideals of basic human rights by the Forty-Eighters, a German group passionate about science, literature, music, and philosophy.

The city hosts some of the oldest known cavern systems in the United States and overflows with history, community, and the desire to conserve the natural resources of the lands. A casual place situated on Main Street near Cibolo Creek. They serve sustainable Texas raised beef, goat, lamb, quail, pork, chicken eggs, dairy, and produce. Chicken is antibiotic, hormone free and raised certified humane. Brewing seasonal beers with unique flavors.

Cascade Caverns

As Boerne’s oldest tourist attraction (1932), this historical Texas "Living Cave" offers 3-hour adventure tours through 5 major rooms including the spectacular Cathedral Room. Enjoy the on-site gift shop, nature trails, pavilion, and picnic tables!

The River has several locations to access. On the river, you can swim, fish, tube, and canoe. While on land, you can camp, hike, ride mountain bikes or horses, picnic, geocache, and bird watching! The State Park has 4 miles of river access.

Canyon Lake

A half hour travel time to the East, Canyon Lake has 80 miles of shoreline and several public parks. Great lake for boating, fishing and swimming. There are many accommodations available on the lake, from tent camping in the lake parks to plush bed and breakfasts.

Boerne City Lake

Boerne Lake provides a variety of activities to enjoy from sailing a boat or kayaking, an 18-hole disc golf course, playing a game of volleyball or dropping a line in the water for a good day of fishing.  Renting a sailboat or get a lesson with Trisum Sailing.

Horseback Riding

You can enjoy trail rides in the hill country. Several Ranches in Boerne provide horse riding services. Stricker Trail Rides is conveniently located in Tapatio Springs.

River Road Park

Running along Cibolo Creek, River Road Park is one of the most popular parks in Boerne. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the paved trail or try your luck fishing to see what you catch. You'll be sure to see the variety of wild ducks and geese. River Road Park is right across the street from several local restaurants and shops.

The travel time is only 25 minutes to The Rim Shopping Center with several great restaurants, plenty of stores for shopping, Bass Pro Shop and the Palladium IMAX Theaters. Across the highway you will be at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and down the road from The Shops At La Cantera , an outdoor Mall and one of the best places to shop and dine.
